Despite the problems that Toyota faces in Japan, it has decided to stick to its launch schedule. Last Monday, the Prius V was fully revealed. Aimed at the decision-makers in young families, the Prius v is fitted with the same Hybrid Synergy Drive system featured on the existing Prius. It is a series-parallel hybrid that consists of an Atkinson cycle 98hp1.8l four-cylinder engine mated to two high-output motors.
It has an EPA rating of 44 mpg city, 40 mpg highway and 42 mpg combined. The Prius v has fewer options than the current Prius. Four driving modes (standard, Eco, EV and Power) are available. It also features Pitch and Bounce Control for on-the-go suspension adjustments.
As it is targeted at families, it is slightly larger than the current model. Another of its highlights is that it uses easy cleaning seat material called SofTex. There is a cargo space of 34.3 cubic feet under the hatch. This was achieved by using sliding second row seats and several storage spaces like d a center console utility tray, dual glove boxes, and five cup holders in large and medium sizes. The Prius v also features JBL GreenEdge audio system, Entune, HDD Navigation system and USB ports. [via - 4wheelsnews]
